Youthful Hearts 50+ exercise classes are held in Marin County, California at the Margaret Todd Senior Center in Novato, and also on Zoom. Unfortunately, after 26 years, I’m no longer teaching at the San Rafael Community Center. Currently, my classes are meeting on Zoom on Mondays and Thursdays each week, and in-person on Tuesdays in Novato, CA. We’re having a great time together! Led by JeanetteMove into a more vibrant life of natural wellness! Come join us for positive support, safe low-impact aerobics, music, and fun! You’ll boost your mood, burn fat, build stronger bones, improve your stamina and your heart and brain health.
After a good warm-up, we do low impact aerobics for about 20 minutes. Modifications are demonstrated so you can exercise at a level that is right for you. The last segment of class includes strength training (using hand weights and elastic bands) and stretching. The class includes stress release practices. There is no mat work in this class. All of the exercises are mostly standing with rare occasion of using a chair. However a chair may be used if needed at any time.

This class helps to develop the many aspects of functional fitness necessary for aging well, including balance, mobility, strength, flexibility, brain health, and self-acceptance. The strength exercises are done using hand weights, body weight and elastic bands. Modifications are shown for those with certain limitations. Taught with compassion and kindness, you’ll be inspired to care for yourself in a safe and well-rounded way. Let go of focusing on what you can’t do and enjoy exploring what you CAN do! Deep breathing and relaxation are emphasized to help with stress release. Become strong and happy!

The second half of class includes stretching, strengthening and guided meditation, with about 10-15 minutes of optional floor work. Get past whatever is holding you back and be the awesome person you are! Equipment is provided at the senior center.

Taught by JeanetteIn this rejuvenating, stress-releasing class we focus on learning a variety of popular line dances. You’ll have a lot of fun and get some beneficial exercise. Plus, you’ll develop better memory. For music we use a wide mix of styles, including country, pop and big band. Beginning and intermediate dances are taught in a patient, step-by-step manner with repetition and review. Come meet some great people and breathe new life into your soul! Newcomers of all levels are welcome. Wear soft sole shoes.
