I recently found out that one of my long-term class members, Norma Sass, just turned 90. I announced it to everyone in class that day and, after the initial shock wore off, we all burst into applause to acknowledge her very special birthday. No one could believe that she was 90!  Norma has been attending my Goldenaires Strength and Stretch class for over 13 years, and I feel truly blessed to know her. I want to honor her on our blog this month because I feel that she deserves the recognition.

Norma Sass, youthful heart

Norma is one very special lady with a creative flare and love for life that makes her a joy to be around. The light that shines from her eyes and her heart helps everyone who connects with her feel valued and cared for. She has led a colorful and fulfilling life. I believe that her longevity and excellent health are a result of  her good lifestyle choices, such as staying involved in activities that she loves and are enriching to her mind, body and spirit. I asked her if she would consider writing a few words about herself, and a few days later she submitted the following bio.

What Norma says About Her Life

“Thank you, Jeanette for keeping us young with your healthy exercises.

My life is full of interesting activities. I am especially proud of belonging to the NDAR, the National Daughters of the American Revolution. The local chapter is “El Marinero.” My ancestors came from Rouen, France in 1767. They were the artisans called the Huguenots. They have quite an interesting history. My ancestor had 7 sons who fought in several major battles. I also belong to the Marin Watercolor Society and the Corte Madera Women’s Club.

My very best hours are spent with my husband, Andy, my children and their delightful teenage grandchildren.” ~ Norma, Saas

I’m grateful to Norma for showing us that we can live happy, healthy lives no matter what our age.  She exemplifies ageless youthfulness. In fact, she is a bona fide YOUTHFUL HEART!
